About the event
Celebrate textiles, nurture your creativity and follow your intuition with a deep dive into textile art with our 6 week Textile Assembly course.
By the end of the course you’ll have your very own piece of textile art to hang from the wall and a brand new knowledge of all things textiles.
Use this course to make some time for yourself and the act of making. It could act as a textiles 'foundation’ and help you build a portfolio for further study. It could be a reintroduction to crafts you might have put down in the past and are ready to pick up again or it is suitable for complete beginners. You’ll come away with a comprehensive knowledge of textile traditions and techniques, facilitated by two textile makers with years of experience in the world of craft.
Each class will be led by the two makers behind Craft Show. Chloe is a yarn and fibre expert with years of experience in the world of craft and interiors. She’s dedicated to sharing all there is to know about fibre and the industry. She makes clever textile sculptures that celebrate yarn and its joyful tactileness. Rachael has a background in patchwork and natural dye. She’s fascinated by the storytelling nature of textiles and thinks they’re the best tool of communication there is.
Textile making has always been a communal activity, a chance to get together to swap skills and stories and this workshop will continue that. For 6 weeks we’ll gather together every Tuesday evening to dedicate a few hours to exploring a new textile art.
Each session focuses on a different textile process, following on from the week before, so that by the end of the 6 weeks you will have made a finished piece to hang on your wall. Suitable for complete beginners and those with an interest in textiles, these classes will spark your creativity and encourage you to follow your intuition.
